Hiking in Radstadt in Salzburgerland

Our house is the ideal starting point for hiking tours.

Radstadt is surrounded by a magical alpine world. If you are a hiker, you will come across beautiful verdant meadows on a vacation here at Ferienhaus Maier. Radstadt is bordered by the Dachstein in the north and by the Radstädter Tauern in the south. Jagged rock chains, the hikeable 2000 m-high peaks, and lush alpine meadows open up a hiking Eldorado for all levels of ability. From the 1,768 m high Rossbrand you will be rewarded with a panoramic view of around 150 alpine peaks.

Those who enjoy a tasty morsel or two can recharge their batteries with hearty home-style, regional cooking at area snack stations and mountain huts.
Radstadt is also a great stop along the Salzburg Almenweg hiking tour, which stretches 350 km from the Tennengebirge over the Tauern to the Dachstein.

With the introduction of the free Radstadt hiking buses, which run every Monday and Thursday, Radstadt offers a special service for its guests. For those who aren't able to walk quite as much, the hiking bus will take you twice daily up to the Roßbrand, Radstadt's popular local mountain.

Our hiking tip

Roßbrand (1770 m):
Radstadt's popular local mountain, with wonderful panoramic views of 150 alpine peaks. From the starting point at the Radstadt town pond, you will reach the rustic Bürgerbergalm (closed on Tuesdays) after an easy 1 hr. hike. After two more hours of hiking on a narrow path, you will reach the summit of the Roßbrand, also the site of the Radstädter Hütte. Time-on-trail 5 hrs.
(Access is also possible from Eben, Altenmarkt, Mandling, and Filzmoos).
